Ancient Egypt: It has been said that they created a calendar with 12 months, each with 30 days and then added 5 days at the end of the year. Now is our modern-day calendar.

    Egypt came up with the idea of quarrying to get bigger blocks to help with building the massive pyramids that still stand today. We often nowadays use quarrying to dig up big parts of the land

Ancient Mesopotamia: Some of the achievements that Ancient Mesopotamia has made was that they made bronze-tipped plows for farming and we still use them now. They figured out how to make canals and put them in the fields so when there was flooding there were no problems. They also made a big building or a temple that’s called the ziggurat. This temple is all about the Ubaid culture. Karissa

 

Ancient India: Came up with a system of weights and measures. This made building cities easier and more efficient. 

   They developed a written language. The scripts are still being investigated, and are still used in conversation today.

Ancient China: Made one of the first books, bound strips of bamboo or woods together and then drew characters on it with brush and ink. We still use this method of binding paper together to create books.

    The Chinese also created gunpowder while trying to find a way to create imortaility. They found how to use it for guns and other artiliery and then they used it for fireworks. We still use gunpowder for guns and fireworks today.
